Syphilis Point-of-care Rapid testing and Immediate Treatment Evaluation
Public health units in Ontario have experienced a dramatic spike in the incidence of infectious syphilis. Underserved populations, such as people who are street-involved or use drugs, are at increased risk for syphilis and other sexually transmitted and bloodborne infections. Using point-of-care tests in non-traditional clinical settings is a low-barrier method to reach undiagnosed and underserved populations.
The aim of the SPRITE Study is to evaluate the real-world implementation of point-of-care tests for syphilis in underserved populations using the INSTI® Multiplex HIV-1 / HIV-2 / Syphilis Antibody Test across Ontario Public Health Units using an outreach model where individuals with syphilis infection can be treated immediately.
